YEREVAN, April 26. /ARKA/. Armenia's Food Safety Agency was carefully scrutinizing safety of foods throughout three days after alarming reports about Azerbaijani apples at Armenia's market appeared in media resources, the press office of the agency reported on Wednesday.
The agency's officers have toured vegetable and fruits shops in Yerevan and provinces and found out Azerbaijan's products at agricultural fair in the capital city's Malatia-Sebastia district.
The inspectors prohibited sales of the apples and ordered destruction of the batches of Azerbaijani apples.
The regulator has submitted the report with photographs to appropriate agencies for finding importers.
«Taking into account the fact that these apples have not gone through border control and the State Food Safety Agency can't be sure that they are safe, we are calling on consumers to refrain from buying these products and inform the agency by calling 010 20 60 40, if they see them,» the agency says in its new release. --0---
