YEREVAN, May 22. /ARKA/. Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan said at his meeting with the German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Riga that Germany plays an important role in the deepening of Armenia-EU relationship, the press office of the Armenian president reported.

The sides discussed Armenia-Germany inter-state ties and said the bilateral agenda had recently expanded leading to the signing of about 60 agreements on cooperation.

Sargsyan thanked the German Chancellor for the German government’s consistent support to Armenia.

Sargsyan and Merkel talked also about the centenary of the Armenian genocide in Ottoman Turkey and the centennial commemoration events held in Germany.

Armenia’s president expressed his gratitude to the German authorities for speaking up their stance and condemning the genocide.

The counterparts spoke also about the regional problems and the challenges in the South Caucasus, including the Karabakh peace process within the OSCE Minsk Group. –0--
