YEREVAN, January 14. /ARKA/. Russian-Armenian relations are not simple at this stage, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

"As for today's relations, they are not simple at the official level," the minister stated at a press conference on the results of 2024.

He noted that when it was announced that "almost a law had been passed or a government decision (of Armenia) to begin the process of joining the European Union," Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk, who is in charge of the EAEU, frankly said that these are incompatible things – two different trading systems.

On January 9, the Armenian government approved a project for Armenia's accession to the EU, proposed by the civil "Platform of Democratic Forces." At the same time, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated that Armenia can only become a member of the EU if the people approve this initiative in a referendum.
