YEREVAN, October 10/ARKA/. Ara Abrahamyan, a Russia-based wealthy businessman of Armenian origin, who is also chairman of the Union of Armenians of Russia, welcomed President Serzh Sargsyan’s announcement that Armenia will join the Russia-led Customs Union.

Abrahamyan downplayed arguments that the decision was hasty, saying this issue had been discussed and debated over the last few years.

Before president Sargsyan’s announcement  Armenia was supposed to initial an association agreement with the European Union at an Eastern Partnership summit in Vilnius, Lithuania, in late November. -0-
