Heritage party to spell out its participation in parliamentary elections on march 18

The issues related to Heritage Armenian Opposition Party’s participation in parliamentary elections in Armenia, will be illuminated at the Party’s Council session on March 18, according to the resolution of the Party’s Friday congress in Yerevan.
YEREVAN, March 5. /ARKA/. The issues related to Heritage Armenian Opposition Party’s participation in parliamentary elections in Armenia, will be illuminated at the Party’s Council session on March 18, according to the resolution of the Party’s Friday congress in Yerevan.

Parliamentary elections will be held in Armenia on May 6, 2012.The resolution also calls upon the national-democratic political forces as well as civil society to “make daring and joint steps towards consolidation of the forces.” 
In his speech, Raffi Hovhannisian, Heritage Party leader, the first ForeignMinister of Armenia, said that the change of power is vital within the current situation in the country.

“One day we will see the flag (of Armenia) at Ararat mountain, however, we should give an objective assessment to the 20-year-old history of our republic. Besides the accomplishment we should consider failures as well: migration, broken destinies, killed soldiers. We are all to blame for it, and this is just a segment of a failure chain,” Hovhannisian said. 

He pointed out that the active civil society is a tool to building prosperity in Armenia. The seventh congress of the Party gathered the authority representatives of Prosperous Armenia Party, Armenian Revolutionary Federation (ARF) Dashnaktsutyun, Free Democrats Party, as well as oppositional Armenian National Congress.Vahan Hovhannisyan, the head of ARF parliamentary faction, underscored the importance of cooperation between Heritage and ARF Dashnaktsutyun both, in the parliament and extra-parliamentary format. In his turn, Khachatur Kokobelyan, Free Democrats Party leader, said that together, his Party and Heritage have to pass a long way.

“For the first time, there is a situation in Armenia when parliamentary elections have a historical importance, as they can establish new opportunities for the country’s development,” he said and clarified that Heritage Party has all means to form a new system of values in Armenia. Heritage Party, liberal-democratic political force, was founded in 2002 by former Armenian Foreign Minister Raffi Hovhannisyan . At present, the party has six representatives in Armenian parliament.  -0-
