YEREVAN, May 11. /ARKA/. Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received Tuesday the EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia Herbert Salber, the presidential press office reports.

Sargsyan presented his views on the causes of the destructive and bellicose stance of Azerbaijan which resulted in the escalation of the situation and obstruction of the negotiations.

«Speaking on the facts of the military crimes carried out by the armed forces of Azerbaijan during the offensive in April, the President stressed that it is essential to receive adequate response from the international community and specialized structures with regard to such unacceptable and reprehensible acts,» the press office says.

At the meeting, the parties stressed the necessary to introduce mechanisms for the investigation of the cases of the violation of ceasefire and confidence building measures.

The parties also stressed that there is no alternative to a peaceful resolution of the conflict.

On April 2, 2016, Azerbaijan launched military assaults along the entire perimeter of its contact line with Nagorno Karabakh. Four days later a cease-fire was arranged. --0---
