YEREVAN, October 18. /ARKA/. The international community is unwilling to issue 'targeted' statements condemning Azerbaijan's aggression against Armenia and its statements as a rule, condemn both sides on the principle of equality, lawyer Siranush Sahakyan, who represents Armenian captives at the European Court of Human Rights, said in an interview with Minority Opinion program on YouTube channel of Novosti-Armenia news agency

"Such statements fail to voice the problems of the Armenian side and tend to lessen the atrocities committed by Azerbaijani soldiers," Sahakyan said.

According to her, it will be easier this way for the international structures to justify their inaction in the future.

At the same time, Sahakyan noted that it is political organizations that put an equal sign between the parties, while in legal matters Armenia proves its rightness and judicial acts against Azerbaijan prove it.

"When we get to the level of verification of facts and evidence, we act successfully. Azerbaijan is trying to extend parity to the legal structures as well. There can be no parity at the level of facts, but everything depends on how effectively legal teams work to make justice a reality," the human rights activist said, noting that Azerbaijan is engaged in falsification of facts.

On October 11, the Armenian Defense Ministry said it was examining new video footage of torture of Armenian POWs, which shows Azerbaijani soldiers intentionally mutilating the legs of Armenian POWs and then forcing them to stand up.

On October 2, a video of unarmed Armenian POWs being shot by Azerbaijani soldiers appeared on social media. The Defense Ministry and the Human Rights Defender of Armenia confirmed its authenticity.

That war crime took place on September 13 during a large-scale attack by the Azerbaijani armed forces on the sovereign territory of the Republic of Armenia. -0-
