YEREVAN, March 6. / ARKA /. Armenia is set to join the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan in 2014, chairman of the Eurasian Economic Commission Viktor Khristenko said today.

"I think Armenia’s membership in the Customs Union will be legally formalized this year,” he told reporters, Russian RIA Novosti reported.

Khristenko said the presidents of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan were told about Armenia’s accession progress at a summit of the Eurasian Economic Commission March 5 in Moscow.

"We can say that over the two months that have passed since the previous summit in December, Armenia made a big step forward for the implementation of  its accession "roadmap."

The 250-page “roadmap” for Armenia’s accession was agreed by the presidents of the union’s three member states as well as Armenia at a summit in Moscow last December.

It lists 262 administrative and legislative actions concerning 20 areas of government policy. Khrsitenko said he was optimistic about Armenia’s ability to implement the roadmap. -0-
