Mesrobyan: Armenia should rely on own strength, not on superpowers
YEREVAN, September 23. /ARKA/. Armenia should rely on own strength, not on superpowers, and it should be a subject, not object in the global politics, Harutyun Mesrobyan, a management expert, was quoted by Novosti-Armenia as saying.

He said that Armenian nation reached its most important achievements in the 20th century when it relied on itself, for example in Sardarapat Battle, and its biggest failures when it relied on help from the outside.

Speaking about Armenia’s prospects for joining the Customs Union or the EU Association, the expert said that any superpower – European Union, Russia or the United States - pursues the goal of spreading neocolonialism, and the authorities should explain people what price Armenia will have to pay to take part in one or another integration project.

Pointing out the EU Association Agreement with Ukraine, Mesrobyan said that if such a humiliating approach is displayed toward Ukraine, a large country, it is not difficult to imagine what humiliating and tough approach will be applied to Armenia.

He also spoke about problems of the Armenian community in Syria, stressing again that Armenians should rely on own capacity.

The Armenian community in Syria numbers at various estimates 100,000 people. The largest community is in Aleppo (60,000). Armenians also live in Damascus, Latakia and other cities. Clashes between government troops and armed opposition in Syria have forced many Armenians to flee their homes there.

According to Armenian Diaspora ministry, 7,000 Syrian Armenians are in Armenia now. ---0----
