YEREVAN, October 2. /ARKA/. "The deployment of militants from Syria and Libya to Azerbaijan by Turkey pursues long-term goals and will have devastating consequences for the South Caucasus in terms of security and stability," Anna Naghdalyan, a spokesman for Armenian ministry of foreign affairs, said at a press briefing on Thursday.
According to her, recruiting and dispatching militants to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone is part of Turkey's foreign policy agenda.
"Turkey has been recruiting militants, radical Islamists and jihadists to pursue the interests of the current Turkish leadership and export influence to neighboring regions. In this context, I want to note that Azerbaijan serves as an instrument of this policy of Turkey. We have no doubt that the territory of Azerbaijan will be used as a location of such groups,”Naghdalyan said.
She added that the deployment of these militants would turn the territory of Azerbaijan and the region into another zone of bloodshed.
"Such a picture of the future raises serious concerns not only in Armenia and Artsakh, but also poses a threat to peace and stability for neighboring regions. The Armenian Foreign Ministry uses all means to present our fears to all partners, so that Turkey's destructive policy is properly assessed and restrained," she said. -0-
