YEREVAN, October 27. /ARKA/. The implementation of the TRIPP project could begin before the signing of the peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan stated at a parliamentary session on Tuesday.

"I can calmly answer this question: yes, it is possible. The peace treaty has already been initialed. Armenia and Azerbaijan have publicly committed themselves and stated their position: this treaty exists, and, roughly speaking, we believe in every letter of it and do not question it," Mirzoyan said.

According to him, Azerbaijan is currently refraining from signing the treaty, stating that it will do so the day after the obstacle is removed.

"And every day we see confirmation of this position from Azerbaijan. On the other hand, we see the reality of the established peace: soldiers are not shooting at each other, and cargo is being delivered." "Therefore, peace is necessary for the TRIPP project to be launched, and this peace has already been established," the minister noted.

Mirzoyan also expressed the opinion that the project's implementation and the development of contacts between civil society representatives of the two countries could contribute to strengthening peace.

"I think that if the project were implemented, for example, if reciprocal visits between civil society representatives of the two countries took place, they could perhaps strengthen the established peace and bring the signing of a peace treaty closer," he said.

On October 22, Armenia announced the start of the practical phase of the TRIPP project. A working group led by Deputy Prime Minister Mher Grigoryan was dispatched to the Syunik region to prepare for the start of design work. Currently, the project focuses on rail, road, and energy infrastructure.
