STEPANAKERT, November 28. /ARKA/. Nagorno-Karabakh parliament has called today on Armenians across the world urging them to make donations to Hayastan pan-Armenian Fund during a regular telethon that kicks off Thursday in the United States.
"The importance of the telethon is not only in fundraising but also in collective overcoming of the contemporary challenges,” the parliamentarians say in a statement.
“We won the war; we must win the economic struggle too. The telethon’s outcome should become the collective response of Armenians to the challenges we are facing," it says.
The proceeds from this year’s telethon will be used to complete the construction of the strategically important road stretching from Armenian Vardenis to Nagorno-Karabakh’s Martakert. The road is 72 miles long and is expected to directly benefit 30 villages along its way. The project is expected to cost $30 million.
Hayastan Fund, Inc., is a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation established in 1992 to facilitate large-scale humanitarian and infrastructure development assistance to Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh.
