New cabinet appointed by Armenia’s president

Under Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan’s decree, new cabinet was appointed Wednseday after the February 18 presidential elections, the press service of Armenian president reported.

YEREVAN, May 8. /Novosti-Armenia/. Under Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan’s decree, new cabinet was appointed Wednseday after the February 18 presidential elections, the press service of Armenian president reported.

The decision on the new cabinet members was adopted at a coalition meeting of the Republican Party and Orinats Yerkir Tuesday.

Posts are retained by territorial administration minister Armen Gevorgyan, minister of diaspora Hranush Hakobyan, minister of culture Hasmik Poghosyan, minister of education and science Armen Ashotyan, minister of environment Aram Harutiunyan, minister of transport Gagik Beglaryan, minister of labour and social affairs Artem Asatryan, minister of energy and natural resources Armen Movsisyan and minister of justice Hrayr Tovmasyan.

Under the presidential decree, Sergo Karapetyan, Samvel Tadevosyan and Armen Yeritsyan will continue as minister of agriculture, minister of urban planning and minister of emergencies respectively.

Vache Gabrielyan (previously minister of finance) has been appointed as the head of government administration, Yuri Vardanyan (advisor to Armenia’s president before) as minister of sports and youth affairs, David Sargsyan (previously head of government administration) as minister of finance and Vahram Avanesyan as minister of economy.

Under the Armenian constitution article 55, reelected president Serzh Sargsyan was sworn in on April 9th and accepted the resignation of the government on the same day. 

The new cabinet is formed within 20 days after the appointment of the premier. Premier Tigran Sargsyan was reappointed by the president on April 19. Minister of defense Seyran Ohanyan and foreign minister Edward Nalbandyan were re-appointed on the next day.–0—
