YEREVAN, September 4. /ARKA/. The new head of the European Union Delegation to Armenia, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Vasilis Maragos presented today his credentials to Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan, the presidential press service reported.

"It is valuable that the European Union responded very quickly to our new challenges, which emerged especially after the 44-day war in 2020, and in fact the relations with the European Union in our political and economic life have received a new impetus and have a serious and primary role," Khachaturyan was quoted as saying.

Maragos assured that he will serve in Armenia as a link between the EU structures, Brussels, as well as EU citizens, as the assistance the EU provides to Armenia "is a joint contribution of our citizens."

During the meeting issues related to the further expansion and deepening of the cooperation between Armenia and the European Union were discussed. The sides touched upon the issue of ensuring the consistency of the reforms implemented in Armenia with the support of the EU and highlighted the cooperation in different areas - from the reforms of the state administration system to the expansion of the use of solar energy.

Ideas were exchanged regarding the realities in the South Caucasus region and in this context the important role of the EU Civilian Observation Mission, deployed on the Armenian side of the border with Azerbaijan was underscored.-0-
