YEREVAN, April 17. /ARKA/. Nikol Pashinyan, the leader of Armenia’s Civil Contract opposition party and head of YELQ opposition faction in the Armenian National Assembly, called on protesters not to respond to possible provocations during the rally in the Republic Square scheduled for today at 18:30 local time.

Mass protests broke out in Yerevan on April 13, which developed into civil unrest. Today, Nikol Pashinyan announced the beginning of a velvet revolution and protesters blockaded buildings of government establishments.

He warned people against responding to the provocations ordered for hindering the peaceful course of the protests and trigger clashes between protesters and the police.

The protesters blocked today the buildings of the prosecutor general office, state revenue committee, central bank and two buildings where the ministries of foreign affairs, justice, education and science, culture, Diaspora, transport, agriculture, healthcare, environment and labor and social affairs are located.

Serzh Sargsyan was elected today by the parliament as prime minister amid mass public protests against his rule. People took to the streets to prevent the third term of his rule. --0---
