Pashinyan did not rule out the possibility of withdrawing Armenia's lawsuits against Azerbaijan from international courts

YEREVAN, March 20. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan did not rule out that his government may withdraw Armenia's lawsuits against Azerbaijan filed with international courts.
At the same time, he emphasized that there is no such decision yet. According to the Prime Minister, the situation should be viewed in a general context.
"We said that if the peace treaty, indeed, is fully ready for signing, and Armenia believes that it can sign it, and if Azerbaijan decides to withdraw its lawsuits against Armenia, it may well become a subject of discussion," Pashinyan said Wednesday during the government's question-and-answer session in the parliament. He noted that such an approach may be quite logical.
However, the one-sided perception of this issue, according to the Prime Minister, does not allow to see the overall picture.
The MPs noted that Azerbaijan has also filed a lawsuit against Armenia, but its arguments are too weak. According to the opposition MPs, the lawsuits against Azerbaijan give Armenia huge opportunities for diplomatic pressure, so it is inadmissible and irresponsible to refuse these instruments.
They urged the Prime Minister not to deprive Armenia of these levers, which can help achieve a stable and lasting peace.
In response, Pashinyan said that if the Armenian authorities see that only this final touch is left for a stable and lasting peace, they will take this step. If not, official Yerevan will definitely not give up this tool.
Earlier, the former ombudsmen of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, as well as human rights activists, expressed concern in a statement over Yerevan's possible withdrawal from lawsuits filed against Baku with international courts. --0--
