Pashinyan to Raisi: Yerevan is ready to facilitate transit of goods between Iran and Armenia

YEREVAN, August 11. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had a telephone conversation August 10 with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi, the Armenian government press office said.
It said the two leaders also exchanged views on bilateral relations and stressed the importance of their rapprochement.
Pashinyan expressed satisfaction with the development of Armenian-Iranian relations, noting that Armenia is ready to facilitate transit of goods between the two countries and step up cooperation in such areas as infrastructure, including roads and energy.
Pashinyan and Raisi also discussed a set of issues related to regional developments and security challenges. Pashinyan provided Raisi with details of the recent border incidents between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
The Armenian premier stressed the importance of full implementation of the trilateral statements made by the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia on November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021 for bringing peace and stability to the region.
In turn, referring to the incidents in the South Caucasus, Raisi recalled the statement of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic Ayatollah Khamenei made at a recent meeting with the presidents of Russia and Turkey that " “if there is a policy to block Iran’s borders with Armenia, the Islamic Republic will oppose it since this border has been a transit link for several thousand years”.-0-
