Peace process between Yerevan and Baku and ruling out escalation in the region: Pashinyan on phone call with Rubio

YEREVAN, March 26. /ARKA/. Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan unveiled today the details of a telephone call he had Tuesday with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
Speaking at a government Q&A session in parliament Pashinyan said during the phone conversation with Rubio, the interest in the strategic partnership between the two countries was confirmed. He added that this agenda remains urgent for the current administration.
The second topic of the conversation, according to Pashinyan, was the situation in the region of the South Caucasus, particularly the peace process between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
"The U.S. Secretary of State said that the agreement on the draft peace treaty (reached by Armenia and Azerbaijan) is an important stage. We agreed that this result should not be lost and the peace treaty should be signed and ratified in both countries as soon as possible," Pashinyan said.
The prime minister said importance was attached to the fact that at least in such an environment, any escalation in the region cannot happen. “It was agreed that we will continue high-level contacts between Armenia and the US,” he added. -0-
