YEREVAN, March 2. /ARKA/. All the issues related to participation of opposition political party “Heritage” in parliamentary elections in Armenia will be determined in the meeting of the party’s board on March 18, says the party congress of “Heritage” held on Friday in Yerevan.

Parliamentary elections will take place on May 6, 2012.

Resolution of the party calls national-democratic forces and civil society of Armenia “to make brave and joint steps in the direction of consolidation of forces”.

In his speech the head of political party “Heritage”, the first Foreign Minister of Armenia Raffi Hovhanissyan said that the situation in the country makes vital the change of power.

“The day will come when we will see the flag of Armenia on the mount Ararat, but we should give a right assessment to 20-year history of the country. Along with the achievements we should mention also the gaps – migration, mangled fates, dead soldiers. It is only a part of the chain of gaps in which we are all to blame”, he said.

He also said that the key to success of Armenia is the activity of civil society.

In the seventh congress of the party participated representatives of the parties “Prosperous Armenia”, ARF Dashnaktsutyun, “Free Democrats”, as well as Armenian National Congress.

The head of parliament faction ARF Dashnaktsutyun Vahan Hovhanissyan emphasized the importance of cooperation between ARFD and “Heritage” as in the parliament, as well as in out-of-parliament format.

He said that today the process of consolidation takes place around two parties and there is a need of consolidation of forces for winning in the elections.

Leader of the party “Free Democrats” Khachatur Kokobelyan said that the party has a long way to go with “Heritage”.

“The first time in Armenia there is a situation when parliamentary elections have historic importance, as they can open new opportunities for the development of the country”, he said explaining that the party “Heritage” is able to form a new system of values in the country.

The party “Heritage” is a liberal-democratic party established by foreign ex-minister of Armenia Raffi Hovhanissyan in 2002. Currently the party is presented by six parliament members. -0-
