YEREVAN, November 21. /ARKA/. Leader of Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP) Gagik Tsarukian is undisposed to run for Armenian president for the time being, “Zhoghovurd” (People) daily reported.
The newspaper says that the party meeting held three days ago was quite heated as PAP did not know what to do next.
According to the newspaper, some party members believe the party leader Gagik Tsarulian should run for president himself, whereas the others think it’s not worth the risk.
“Tsarukian himself continues keeping silence. The thing is that nomination of Tsarukian is to the benefit of Serzh Sargsyan and Robert Kocharyan: Sargsyan needs to win over a strong candidacy, whereas Kocharyan hopes that Tsarukian is the only one able to win over Sargsyan in the elections,” the newspaper says.
The name of the second president of Armenia Robert Kocharyan is said to be closely related to Prosperous Armenia Party and many believe that Kocharyan is the secret leader of the party.
PAP position themselves as a moderate liberal centrist party. The party was founded by MP Gaguk Tsarukian, head of Armenian National Olympic Committee and president of Multy Group concern, in 2004. -0-
