Putin: Russia ready to assist in Baku-Yerevan peace process where needed

YEREVAN, August 19. /ARKA/. Russian President Vladimir Putin has expressed Moscow's readiness to participate in the resolution of issues between Baku and Yerevan, as long as both sides request such involvement. Putin made this statement during talks with Azerbaijani President in Baku, as reported by TASS, Russia’s state news agency.
"We touched upon this topic yesterday and will continue today. This concerns the situation in the South Caucasus. It is clear, and well known, that Russia is dealing with crises, particularly on the Ukrainian front. However, Russia's historical involvement in the South Caucasus in recent years compels us to engage in these events, but only to the extent that it is desired by both parties," Putin said.
