YEREVAN, May 14. /ARKA/. Russian President Vladimir Putin reaffirmed today that his country remains Armenia's strategic and trade-economic partner during a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the margins of a gathering of the leaders of the countries comprising the Eurasian Economic Union in the southern Russian city of Sochi.

Putin personally congratulated Pashinyan on his election to the post of head of the Armenian government and expressed hope that bilateral relations between the two countries will develop as progressively as they have been so far

"We are looking at Armenia, and it is very well known to everyone, as our closest partner and ally in the region. This involves economic policy and security issues. You know that Russia remains Armenia's strategic and trade and economic partner," Putin said.

He noted that trade and economic relations between the countries are growing at an active rate registering a 25% growth. He added also that exports of Armenian agricultural products to the Russian market are growing at a faster pace.

"This is a very good dynamic and I hope that we will manage not only to preserve it, but also to multiply," Putin said.

According to him, active work will continue in international organizations, starting with the UN, where Armenia and Russia have always supported each other and ending with regional organizations in the spheres of security and economic development.

According to the National Statistical Service, Armenia's exports to Russia in 2017 increased by $167 million, or 44.6%, to $541.5 million.
