Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said the governing Republican Party of Armenia did not yet have discussions on the presidential candidate for the next election.

YEREVAN, December 27. / ARKA /. Armenian Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan said the governing Republican Party of Armenia did not yet have discussions on the presidential candidate for the next election.

Speaking at a televised news conference he responded to rumors that he might be nominated by his party as a candidate for the next presidential election due in 2018.

"As for the parliamentary and presidential elections scheduled to take in 2017 and 2018 respectively, I would like to say that the party’s governing board did not discuss this issue. When our team will look into it we will naturally notify all," he said. 

The 2013 February 18 presidential elections resulted in a victory for incumbent president Serzh Sargsyan, who received 59% of the vote. -0-
