Republican Party of Armenia to run in snap polls

YEREVAN, April 30. /ARKA/. The former ruling Republican Party of Armenia (HHK), chaired by ex-president Serzh Sargsyan, will make an alliance with the Hayrenik (Homeland) party, led by ex-director of the National Security Party, to contest the snap parliamentary elections, slated for June 20, HHK said on April 29 following a meeting of its executive body.
HHK said the meeting discussed a set of issues related to political developments in Armenia and Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) as well as a set of related regional developments.
It said an exchange of views took place on the HHKs attitude to possible early parliamentary elections, the expediency of its participation and the formats.
'As a result, taking into account the vital imperative of removing the 'capitulator' (prime minister Nikol Pashinyan) from power, the importance of applying all means and efforts for this purpose, the recent events in the opposition field, the Republican Party of Armenia decided to participate in this national process in the event of early parliamentary elections.
Based on the possible formats of participation and the existing proposals for cooperation, it was decided to start the process of forming an electoral alliance with the Hayrenik (Homeland) Party.
At the same time, the Republican Party of Armenia notes the unconstitutional, unlawful, autocratic and repressive actions of the current conspiratorial regime which are making this process distrustful and illegitimate, " HHK said in the statement.-0-
