YEREVAN, June 26./ARKA/. Russia is Armenia’s principal strategic partner, said Armenian Defence Minister Seyran Ohanyan in the interview with Noah’s Ark edition.
“Our principal strategic partner is Russia. Being a member of CSTO we also cooperate with the other co-members. As you know huge bulk of works are being carried out to modernize and develop military components of the Collective Security Treaty Organization. We can say we are “advancers” here, we are the country which, being one of the member of the organization, has made a list of proposals related to modernization of the components,” Ohanyan said.
The Armenian army modernization is implemented through restoring and advancing military and industrial complex which was once pretty developed in Armenia, and due to cooperation with Russia, CSTO members and European countries, the minister clarified.
“We are founding large joint organizations and companies with the Russian Federation. They support us in re-equipping and modernizing our army. It helps us to maintain the combat readiness of our armament and technology and also continue modernization. We pay special attention to system management, communications, modern targeting and detection devices for military equipment,” Ohanyan added. —0-
