Russian foreign minister invites Armenian counterpart to visit Moscow

YEREVAN, August 20. /ARKA/. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov sent a congratulatory message to Ararat Mirzoyan in connection with his appointment as Armenia’s Foreign Minister.

"I highly appreciate your contribution to the development of fruitful Armenian-Russian inter-parliamentary relations when serving as chairman of the National Assembly of Armenia. I hope for the further development of close and meaningful cooperation between the two foreign ministries, which meets the key interests of the peoples of Russia and Armenia," Lavrov’s message said.

Lavrov said that effective cooperation between Yerevan and Moscow in solving regional problems, coordinating positions on multilateral platforms, and the steady implementation of Eurasian integration projects will strengthen the allied spirit of Armenian-Russian relations and friendship.

"I wish you success in your high government post, good health and prosperity. I invite you to Moscow at a convenient time," Lavrov said in his message.

Mirzoyan was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia on August 19. Before that he served as Speaker of the previous National Assembly.

The post of Armenian Foreign Minister was vacant for more than 2.5 months after the resignation of Ara Ayvazyan in late May.--0-
