It quoted the president as saying that this year marks the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and Russia and the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Treaty on Friendship, Cooperation and Mutual Assistance, which proved productive in terms of strengthening bilateral relations.
"These relations are characterized by a high level of political dialogue at all levels, broad coordination of foreign policy activities, fruitful cooperation on international platforms, very good interaction in the economic, military, military-technical and humanitarian spheres," Sargsyan said. .
He stressed also the importance of active mutual visits and the role of numerous joint events such as the Armenian-Russian Interregional Forum, the International Forum of the Eurasian Partnership, the Armenian-Russian Youth Forum, held at the beginning of the month, the 30th meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Commission.
Noting that the Armenian-Russian relations are developing consistently, the president stressed that further work should continue in the direction of developing interstate relations and strengthening the friendship of the Armenian and Russian peoples.
Lavrov thanked for the reception and conveyed to president Serzh Sargsyan the warm greetings of Russian president Vladimir Putin and also presented the results of his talks with Armenian foreign minister.
