YEREVAN, February 17. /ARKA/. Armen Sarkissian, Armenian president and head of the board of trustees of the Hayastan All-Armenian Fund, held a working meeting with the Executive Director of the Fund Haykak Arshamyan, thepresidential press service reported Wednesday morning.

The programs implemented and planned by the Fund were discussed at the meeting, including projects to provide humanitarian assistance to Artsakh.

Sarkissian stressed the importance of effective, responsible and targeted spending of funds collected and transferred to the Fund by the Armenians living worldwide, the strictest adherence to the procedures and deadlines of programs, transparency and accountability of the fund's activities, and trust in the structure.

He announced his intention to convene in the near future an extraordinary meeting of the board of trustees of the Fund to discuss issues related to its activities and management, as well as to find solutions.

About the campaign to help Artsakh

An all-Armenian campaign to collect donations to support Artsakh, which from September 27 to November 9 was subjected to the military aggression of Azerbaijan, started on the day the hostilities began. In about a month and a half, about $ 170 million was raised.

The society periodically raises concerns related to fears that funds and humanitarian aid collected for Artsakh are spent inappropriately and do not reach their addressees.

On November 24, it became known that the "Hayastan" fund transferred about 52.7 million drams (about $ 102 million) to the state treasury account with the condition that these funds be used to finance infrastructure, social and health expenses due to martial law.

All funds were transferred on the basis of donation agreements concluded between Armenia and the Fund and were fully credited to the single treasury account.

As explained by the head of the Ministry of Finance Atom Janjugazyan, there are no legal violations of the Fund's activities, especially considering that donations to the state budget were made on the basis of the decision of the Fund's Board of Trustees.

About Hayastan Foundation

The Hayastan All-Armenian Fund was founded in 1992, according to a presidential decree, as a unique organization called upon to unite Armenians from all over the world and their like-minded people who are ready to make efforts for the sustainable development of Armenia and Artsakh.

The funds are formed from the annual charitable telethons held in different countries, as well as from funds raised at charity dinners, concerts and exhibitions. The funds are collected through postal and SMS transfers as well as wills and earmarked investments left in favor of the fund. -0-
