Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan sent a congratulatory message on Monday to Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin in connection with his election as president of the Russian Federation.

YEREVAN, March 5. /ARKA/. Armenia’s president Serzh Sargsyan sent a congratulatory message on Monday to Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin in connection with his election as president of the Russian Federation.

"Dear Vladimir Vladimirovich! On behalf of the Armenian people and myself, I sincerely and heartily congratulate you on your election as president of the Russian Federation! Your landslide victory is a sign of a broad popular support for your course of Russia's development, modernization of the country, and enhancement of its role and influence in the global world processes ", Sargsyan’s message says particularly.

"I am convinced that further expansion of our bilateral strategic cooperation will continue to serve the interests of strengthening peace, security and stability in the South Caucasus, will enable not only to implement long-term projects in the economy, in the field of interregional cooperation and culture, but will also open new opportunities for interstate cooperation. Dear Vladimir Vladimirovich, in the twentieth year of establishment of diplomatic relations between Armenia and the Russian Federation I invite you to visit Armenia," the message says.

The Armenian president expressed confidence that Putin's visit will give new impetus to the development of Armenian-Russian alliance on all fronts for the benefit of the two peoples.

"I wish you, dear Vladimir Vladimirovich, good health and new success in the high state office, and for the fraternal people of Russia we wish prosperity and well-being," the message says.

The presidential election was held on March 4. According to Russian Central Election Commission, Vladimir Putin has won the election in the first round by receiving 63.65% of the vote. -0-
