Sharmazanov: Armenian Republicans’ election list still not ready

The ruling Republican Party of Armenia has not composed its election list, and discussions are still under way, Eduard Sharmazanov, vice-speaker of the National Assembly, said Thursday night after the party board members completed their session.
YEREVAN, January 27. /ARKA/. The ruling Republican Party of Armenia has not composed its election list, and discussions are still under way, Eduard Sharmazanov, vice-speaker of the National Assembly, said Thursday night after the party board members completed their session.
He said the party will submit it to the Central Electoral Commission at a period between February 6 and 16 in accordance with the rule. The polling day is February 2.
Sharmazanov said he knew who will be the head of the party’s election campaign but refrained from revealing that.
He declared that Armenian Republicans ‘have confirmed again that the democratic nature of elections is vitally important to the party’.
In his words, the party has always made every effort to make elections democratic and up to international standards and intends to do the same now.
Sharmazanov said that an accord had been reached with opposition parties on this issue and called this ‘historic achievement’.
He said that everything will be done to conduct ‘the best elections in out history’.
In his opinion, the Republican Party of Armenia is the key propeller of changes and reforms. --0---
