YEREVAN, April 26. /ARKA/. Sona Gharibyan was appointed today as top advisor to the Armenian defense minister, the press office of the country's defense ministry reported on Wednesday.

Sona Gharibyan was born on August 13, 1969 in Yerevan. She has graduated from the State Engineering University of Armenia with an electrical engineer diploma.

From 1995 to 1998 Gharibyan worked for the Association of Banks of Armenia as chief accountant, from 1998 to 2008 for the Central Bank of Armenia as chief its unit in charge of financial surveillance and from 2008 till 2014 for the finance ministry as chief of its financial surveillance division.

She is a member of the board of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia and a member of the Control Chamber's board.
