YEREVAN, October 29. /ARKA/. Spending on defense under Armenia’s draft government budget for 2014 increased by 6% compared to 2013, the country’s minister of defense Seyran Ohanyan told reporters Tuesday.
The amount will be used first of all for increasing the salaries of the commissioned staff, the minister said.
Apart from this, focus will be place on modernization and international and national security guarantees, according to the report.
The minister stressed the government is solving security tasks by the means available.
It would be preferable to increase defense expenditures but the current shortcomings are made up for at the expense of bilateral and multilateral military, technological and strategic cooperation, Ohanyan said. –0—
