Regional stability paves the way for major investment: Pashinyan on TRIPP statement
YEREVAN, January 14. /ARКА/. Regional stability paves the way for major investment and capital inflows, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan stated during a panel discussion entitled "Armenia and the World: At the Crossroads of Risks and Opportunities."

On January 13, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio released a joint statement on the implementation framework of the TRIPP project.

"The security situation around Armenia has never been more stable than it was at 8:00 a.m. on January 14, 2026. Of course, all the processes that have taken place play a role in this, as does the Joint Statement on the implementation framework of the TRIPP project issued the day before," Pashinyan said.

According to him, there is a formula that fully satisfies Armenia, the United States, and, according to the Prime Minister, Azerbaijan.

"This gives the green light for lasting and stable peace in the region. This statement is the cornerstone for the institutionalization of peace between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Commissions for demarcating the Armenian-Azerbaijani border are working. We are moving forward much faster than we could have previously imagined," Pashinyan said.

Among these developments, he mentioned Armenia's railway connection with the world and bilateral trade with Azerbaijan. The Prime Minister noted that fuel supplies from Azerbaijan will contribute to the eradication of monopolies in Armenia.

"Some companies are desperately making large investments and conducting campaigns to maintain their monopoly positions under the slogans of patriotism. However, no one wants to explain why consumers in Armenia have been paying trillions of drams more for decades. From December 25th to this day, tens of billions of drams have been saved in the pockets of Armenian citizens," Pashinyan said, admitting he could be miscalculating.

"A developed, stable, secure Republic of Armenia, enjoying high international prestige, is the greatest tribute to the memory of our victims, our fallen brothers. Armenia has established itself as a responsible member of the international community, a worthy partner, including with superpowers," Pashinyan said, recalling the strategic partnership with the US and the EU.

"But the starting point is October 6, 2022, when, at the European Political Community summit, during a quadripartite meeting (Armenia, France, the EU, and Azerbaijan – ed.), Armenia recognized each other's territorial integrity and sovereignty based on the Almaty Declaration. We realized that we shouldn't wait for someone else to decide for us, as we have done for centuries," Pashinyan said.

He noted that the world is in a state of turbulence, while Armenia and the region are gradually transforming into an environment of stability and cooperation, particularly in the sphere of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations.

"Now large investments and large sums of money will flow into our region. This is very good news. It is clear how the US is involved. We need to discuss the format of our EU partners' involvement and specific projects, which is very important for us," Pashinyan said.

He also attached importance to a final settlement of relations with Turkey, so that the processes resolved at the level of political dialogue find their expression "on the ground."

"This incredibly positive atmosphere we find ourselves in doesn't mean all issues have been resolved. However, all the formulas for their resolution have been found," Pashinyan said.

He urged not to consider the army alone as the sole guarantor of security, but, first and foremost, to consider the correct positioning in the international community.-0-
