State Department calls Yerevan-Washington Charter "key milestone" in relations
YEREVAN, January 15. /ARKA/. U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan signed the U.S.-Armenia Charter on Strategic Partnership in Washington, marking a significant milestone in the strengthening U.S.-Armenia relations, according to a statement by U.S. State Department Press Secretary Matthew Miller.
"The Charter outlines new areas for bilateral cooperation, including economic collaboration, security and defense, strengthening democracy, justice, and inclusivity, as well as expanding people-to-people contacts," the statement said.
On the latest developments in Armenia-US relations
Blinken and Mirzoyan also announced that the U.S. and Armenia will begin negotiations on an agreement to support Armenia's nuclear energy sector. Armenia intends to join the Global Coalition to Fight ISIS.
Regarding the latest developments in Armenia-U.S. relations, the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs previously noted that 2024 was marked by active political dialogue and significant achievements. On April 5, a trilateral Armenia-U.S.-EU meeting took place. On June 11, the final session of the Armenia-U.S. Strategic Dialogue was held in Yerevan, where a vision to deepen relations and elevate the bilateral dialogue to a strategic partnership was presented.
Throughout the year, cooperation between Armenia and the U.S. took place at various levels and platforms, including through bilateral meetings between Mirzoyan and Blinken.
