Three members of Armenia’s National Assembly will seek the post of parliament speaker.
YEREVAN, April 28. / ARKA /. Three members of Armenia’s National Assembly will seek the post of parliament speaker.
The frontrunner is Galust Sahakyan, the current head of the parliamentary faction of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, nominated last weekend by his party’s governing board. If elected he will replace Hovik Abrahamyan, who was nominated by president Sargsyan as prime minister.
The other two contenders are Ruben Hakobyan, the head of Heritage faction and self-nominated Hrant Bagratyan from the Armenian National Congress.
The ruling Republican Party of Armenia controls 69 seats in n the 131 -seat parliament, enough to have Sahakyan elected as next parliament speaker. -0-
