YEREVAN, January 18. /ARKA/. A court in the Armenian capital Yerevan has permitted law-enforcement authorities to arrest two people on charges of committing violence against former Armenian National Assembly Speaker Ararat Mirzoyan and robbing Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's residence.

According to the National Security Service (NSS), the arrests are part of a criminal case launched against dozens of men who attacked and ransacked several tate buildings in Yerevan early on November 10, 2020 following the announcement of a Russian-brokered ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh.

The angry crowds were said to break into Nikol Pashinyan’s office and residence and the Armenian parliament and severely beat up then parliament speaker Ararat Mirzoyan.

One of the arrested man, identified by the NSS as A.B., rushed to the government building after learning about mass protests following the announcement of the truce, entered the residence, disobeying the demands of the State Security Service.

Then, leaving the residence, he went to Demirchyan Street, where he joined the participants of mass disorders, who had committed violence against Ararat Mirzoyan, broke through their ranks, approached Mirzoyan, who was already lying on the ground, and hit him with his foot.

As a result of the violence used by A.B. and other rioters, Mirzoyan sustained numerous injuries, lost consciousness and was taken to the Erebuni Medical Centre.

The other arrested man, identified as T.P. stole Pashinyan's wife's gold jewelry worth about 4 million drams, including gold watch, chains, pendant and bracelet and gave them to his friend, who pawned them to a credit organization on November 16, 2020. -0-
