U.S. urges Armenia and Azerbaijan to intensify their diplomatic engagement for achieving comprehensive peace agreement

The United States remains committed to promoting a secure, stable, democratic, prosperous, and peaceful future for the South Caucasus region, Vedant Patel, principle deputy spokesperson for the Bureau of Global Public Affairs of the State Department, told a news briefing.

YEREVAN, August 31. /ARKA/. The United States remains committed to promoting a secure, stable, democratic, prosperous, and peaceful future for the South Caucasus region, Vedant Patel, principle deputy spokesperson for the Bureau of Global Public Affairs of the State Department, told a news briefing.

"We urge Armenia and Azerbaijan to intensify their diplomatic engagement and achieve a comprehensive peace agreement," he said.

Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan who left for Brussels late on August 30, is scheduled to meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and European Council President Charles Michel today.

Earlier, in response to a statement by the assistant to Azerbaijani President Hikmet Hajiev that in Brussels Pashinyan and Aliyev will agree to create a group to prepare the text of a peace agreement, the Armenian Prime Minister's office said that a relevant statement will be disseminated following the meeting. -0-
