US consider meeting of Armenian, Azeri presidents in Vienna important step toward dialogue

The United States welcomed Tuesday the meeting of Azerbaijan’s and Armenia’s presidents Ilham Aliev and Serzh Sargsyan in Vienna and expressed hope the negotiations will continue, Novosti-Armenia reported referring to RIA Novosti.

YEREVAN, November 20. /ARKA/. The United States welcomed Tuesday the meeting of Azerbaijan’s and Armenia’s presidents Ilham Aliev and Serzh Sargsyan in Vienna and expressed hope the negotiations will continue, Novosti-Armenia reported referring to RIA Novosti.
It is the first meeting of the two presidents over the last two years and it is an important step to resume the dialogue, the State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki said. The meeting shows the two leaders intend to put an end to Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, she said.
The United State urges both presidents to intensely work over a peaceful settlement to the conflict, she said.
The closed meeting of the two presidents held in Vienna was the first over the last two years. Aliev-Sargsyan negotiations took two hours, and the mediators joined them afterwards. –0--
