YEREVAN, July 25. /ARKA/. Yerevan mayor Taron Margaryan will make a public statement today on the protests held against increase in public transport fare, deputy mayor Kamo Areyan said at a government meeting Thursday.

“These days the mayor followed the public movements, complaints and suggestions, met with representatives of the social sector. He is currently holding meetings and discussions with party factions of the Elders Council. After summarizing the outcome of the meetings, the mayor will make a public statement today”, Areyan said, as quote by Novosti-Armenia

Protests are currently held near the government building against the recent increase in public transport fare fr om 100 drams to 150 drams in Yerevan. The increase under a municipality decision raised a wave of discontent among the residents of the capital. The main motto of the protesters is “Won’t pay 150 drams.” Another campaign is called Free Car wh ere famous showmen, politicians and journalists give a lift to Yerevan residents for free. –0--
