Armenian law-enforcers recover 937 million drams and property worth about 4 billion drams - Prosecutor General's Office

YEREVAN, 26 November. /ARKA/. Armenian law enforcement bodies have recovered 937 million drams and property worth 4.1 billion drams within the framework of criminal cases related to confiscation of assets of illegal origin, the press service of the Prosecutor General's Office reports.
‘Since the establishment of the department for the recovery of assets of illegal origin at the Prosecutor General's Office, from September 2020 to the present, 553 investigations have been launched,’ the Prosecutor General's Office said.
According to the department, 201 applications have been filed with the court against 172 people. Also, 116 lawsuits were filed with the court demanding to confiscate in favour of the Republic of Armenia about 1,300 units of immovable and 251 units of movable property of illegal origin. The total value of the filed lawsuits is more than 587 billion drams.
The Prosecutor General's Office signed 8 settlement agreements within the cases on confiscation of property of illegal origin, returning 7 items of immovable and 1 item of movable property with a total value of about 4 billion 100 million drams and about 937 million drams.
According to 4 decisions of the Anti-Corruption Court rendered in 2024, 5 immovable and 2 movable properties (about 1 billion 123 million drams and about 1 billion 880 million drams) respectively will be confiscated in favour of the Republic of Armenia after the decisions enter into legal force.
