ARMENIAN OMBUDSMAN RECEIVES 1,353 COMPLAINT LETTERS

The Armenian Ombudsman office received 1,353 complaint letters in the first half of 2007. The Ombudsman press service reported Friday, of the total number of complaint letters 503 were in the written form, including 32 collective letters.
YEREVAN, July 13. /ARKA/. The Armenian Ombudsman office received 1,353 complaint letters in the first half of 2007. The Ombudsman press service reported Friday, of the total number of complaint letters 503 were in the written form, including 32 collective letters.

As result of examination of these letters, 158 complaints were taken into consideration, 62 applicants were provided with explanations about possibilities of protection of their rights and freedoms, 33 complaints were transferred to other authorities, 195 were not taken into consideration, and seven were not discussed by applicants’ request. The rest 48 complaint letters are examined by Ombudsman officers.

Most of the citizens’ complaints were related to the work of the police (66), courts (57), Prosecutor’s Office (51), Yerevan municipality (42), the government (35), and the Ministry of Justice (32).

Yerevan is leading for the number of submitted complaint letters. Complaint letters from regions were several times less. R.O. –0—
