School graduate examination appeal centre opens in Armenia

An appeal centre for state examinations affiliated to Armenian Education and Science Ministry’s Assessment and Testing Centre has been set up, Chairman of the Centre Bagrat Yesayan, Deputy Minister of Education and Science, has reported.

YEREVAN, June 6. /ARKA/. An appeal centre for state examinations affiliated to Armenian Education and Science Ministry’s Assessment and Testing Centre has been set up, Chairman of the Centre Bagrat Yesayan, Deputy Minister of Education and Science, has reported.

“We have already received appeals concerning the process of examination in Armenian Language and Literature. The number of appeals is likely to increase after the official results are publicized,” Yesayan said.

The deputy minister said specialized groups on each examination subject will be set up within the Appeal Centre. Professionals will be invited to participate in all the disputable questions. School graduates will be given an answer within three days after lodging a complaint.

Armenian school graduates are to take three state examinations for academic year 2007-2008 – Armenian Language and Literature, Mathematics, and Foreign Language. The examination period starts on June 2 and lasts until June 17.

13,366 pupils participated in the unified exam in Armenian Language and Literature on June 2. The results were publicized in the afternoon of June 5. The next examination, on Russian language, is scheduled for June 7.

Armenian schoolchildren first took unified graduation examinations last year. Next year they will take unified state exams in all the school subjects. N.H. —0--
