YEREVAN, February 14. /ARKA/. A1+TV company will take part in a competition to be announced for TV and radio frequency by Armenia’s National Commission on Television and Radio, the founder and director of the company Mesrop Movsesyan told in an interview with the daily "Aravot".
“We are concerned about the future of A1+TV, and our team is preparing to take part in the competition. We will definitely do it. After being off the air for 17 years, it would be wrong to miss the opportunity,” he said.
In 2002, the National Commission on Television and Radio pushed out the company from air granting the right to broadcast on the 37th UHF channel to Sharm company. A1+ was the only opposition television company in Armenia that had been in the air for five years.
Movsesyan also announced his intention to run for the post of chairman of board of the Public TV and Radio Company.
"My participation in the competition will depend on the conditions in which the competition will be announced for that position and who will take part in it,” said Movsesyan.
In June 2008, the European Court of Human Rights upheld the claim of Meltex company, running A1+TV and Mesrop Movsesyan against Armenia. The European Court found that the deprivation of A1 +TV from air violated Article 10 of the Human Rights Convention (freedom of speech) and ordered the government to pay 30,000 euros in compensation claim.-0-
