YEREVAN, March 6. / ARKA /. Armenian justice minister Hovhannes Manukyan traveled to Tbilisi, Georgia, to attend the presentation of an album called ‘Tbilisi-New Babylon,’ dedicated to Armenian artists of Georgia in the second half of the 20th century.
The event was organized as part of a project initiated by Manukyan, who served as Armenia's ambassador to Georgia in 2011-2014.
The aim of the project is the release of a 3-lingual album in Georgian, Armenian and English. It is expected to become an illustration of one of the most interesting periods in the development of modern Georgian art, based on a review of the creative activity of five most brilliant representatives of the Armenian artists who lived in Georgia.
They are Albert Dilbaryan (1928-1991), Lev Bayahchev (1930-1992), Robert Kondakhsazov (1937-2010), Gayane Khachaturyan (1942-2009) and Zuleika Bazhbeuk Melikov (1939).
Works from museums in Georgia, Armenia, Russia and the United States were selected for the project. The album will feature also the works from private collection in Georgia. -0-
