YEREVAN, July 29. /ARKA/. Ardook, a new social initiative that will provide mothers of children with disabilities with work at home, has been officially launched in Armenia today.

Shogher Atanesyan, founder of Ardook social initiative, told reporters that the main goal of the initiative is to provide jobs to socially vulnerable group of people - mothers of children with disabilities.

"They have problems with finding jobs because they cannot leave their children and go out. We will provide them with jobs: they will do laundry and ironing at home. That way they can get a steady income," she said.

Atanesyan said the initiative involves currently such mothers in the capital Yerevan, but in the future similar initiatives may be implemented in the provinces as well, as applications are being submitted by women from all over Armenia.

In her turn, European Union Ambassador to Armenia Andrea Wiktorin said that the Ardook project shows the format of inclusive life with very simple and clear actions.

"It implies the exercise of rights and opportunities. It is necessary, first of all, to create these opportunities in practice so that the rights can be exercised," she said.

Wiktorin stressed that she was happy to see the creation of opportunities in Armenia for mothers of children with disabilities to be near their children and at the same time work and earn an income.

"I see several added values in this project, first and foremost that children with disabilities will not be deprived of their mothers and care," she pointed out.

Deputy Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Tatevik Stepanyan said that the message of the initiative is to promote self-sufficient, competitive women with equal opportunities in Armenia.  -0
