The government of Armenia plans to raise pensions for over 80,000 citizens, Labor and Social Affairs Minister Maneh Tandilyan said at a press conference on Wednesday.

YEREVAN, August 23. /ARKA/. The government of Armenia plans to raise pensions for over 80,000 citizens, Labor and Social Affairs Minister Maneh Tandilyan said at a press conference on Wednesday.
"There are pensioners who receive very low pensions because of insufficient length of service: they are citizens who have reached retirement age, but for one reason or another receive pensions that are lower than the subsistence level.
"We must understand that our country has the duty to guarantee the minimum needs of citizens,’ she said.
She also said the government plan to raise the amount of one-time allowance given for the birth of a second child from 50 thousand drams ($103.5) to 150 thousand drams ($310.6) from October 1.
"It will become a message to our citizens that the birth of the second child is of strategic nature. The birth of the third child solves the problem of population growth," Tandilyan said.
"If our families do not give birth to second children, then the country will regress. With the help of our initiative, we try to convey this message to our population, "Tandilyan said. -0-
