YEREVAN, October 12. /ARKA/. Armenia has upped three notches in the latest Global Peace Index 2022 to the 83rd position among 163 countries.

Produced by the international think-tank the Institute for Economics & Peace (IEP), the Global Peace Index (GPI) report presents the most comprehensive data-driven analysis to date on peace, its economic value, trends, and how to develop peaceful societies.

The report covers 99.7% of the world's population and uses 23 qualitative and quantitative indicators from highly respected sources to compile the index.

According to the report, Armenia is in the list of countries with an average level of peacefulness placed between Jamaica (81st) and Madagascar (84th).

In the broader region of Russia and Eurasia, which includes 12 countries, Armenia is second after Moldova (62nd place).

Armenia is followed by Uzbekistan (86th), Kyrgyzstan (91st), Tajikistan (92nd), Georgia (95th), Kazakhstan (97th), Turkmenistan (104th) and Belarus (116th).

The outsiders in this regional group are Azerbaijan (128th), Ukraine (153rd) and Russia (160th).

Iceland has been the most peaceful country since 2008. New Zealand, Ireland, Denmark and Austria are also among the five most peaceful countries.

The least peaceful countries are Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, Russia and South Sudan. -0-
