Armenia's resident population drops further by 11,700 people

As of October 1, 2019 Armenia's resident population stood at 2,957,500 people, the National Statistical Committee (NS) said.
YEREVAN, November 6. /ARKA/. As of October 1, 2019 Armenia's resident population stood at 2,957,500 people, the National Statistical Committee (NS) said. It said the number of resident population as of October 1, 2019, compared to the same period in 2018, was less by 11,700 people. Moreover, compared with the beginning of the year, the population decreased by 7,800 people.
The urban population on October 1 stood at 1,893,200, having declined by 1,700 people in the first nine months. Some 1,083,600 people lived in the capital Yerevan, up from 1.081,800 as of January 1, 2019.
In rural areas, the population stood at 1,073,800, which was 6,100 less than at the beginning of the year. According to the latest data of the National Statistics Committee, the number of able-bodied population in the second quarter of 2019 stood at 2,014,000 people, which was 0.5% higher than in the 1st quarter.
At the same time, the number of employed people stood at 964,200 (a decline of 1.1% compared to the 1st quarter), which was 3.6% higher than in the same period in 2018. At the same time, the number of unemployed people amounted to 207,200 (an increase of 6.7% compared to the 1st quarter), which was 12.4% lower than in the same period in 2018. -0-
