Armenia's small aviation accounts for its first success
YEREVAN, September 4. /ARKA/. The private sector's vigorous activity has contributed to the first achievements of Armenia's small aviation, Tatevik Revazian, the head of the General Department of Civil Aviation of Armenia, said Tuesday at a briefing.

"This is a completely new area to Armenia, and there are many problems,"  she said. "However, plenty depends on the persistence of those people who work to have this area developed. Over one year, we have placed on record the first successes, which are connected with the private sector's activity."

In her words, three Cessna aircrafts and one air balloon have been registered in 2018 and 2019.

Revazian said that the development of small aviation in Armenia can accelerate thanks to introduction of skydiving, which will attract not only investors but also those who love air tourism.

"Of course, it is still early to speak about commercial flights, but the appearance of small aviation aircrafts in Armenia in itself speaks about new opportunities for development of this area," she said.

The head of the General Department of Civil Aviation also pointed out a significant decrease in fees for using runways in Zvartnots International Airport and licensing flights as another achievement.

Karen Gyurjyan, head of the flight safety inspection, on his side, said that introduction of the practice of training flights on Cessna, which will initially be operated by Sky Club Armenia, is expected to contribute a great deal to the small aviation development in Armenia.

In his opinion, the activity of Sky Club Armenia and the licensing of its pilots can prompt the appearance of other companies in the local market, and this will spur the development of small aviation in Armenia. -0---
