Armenian police officer admits to shooting Red Book-listed bezoar goat

A police officer in Armenia admitted to shooting a bezoar goat, the Police press service reported today.

YEREVAN, December 17. /ARKA/. A police officer in Armenia admitted to shooting a bezoar goat, the Police press service reported today.
Bezoar ibex is a subspecies of the wild goat, and native to Armenia and several other West Asian countries.
The head and the skin of the bezoar goat, which is listed in the Red Book of Armenia, were found in the house of a resident of the village of Azatavan on December 14 by police officers.
The police revealed that a resident of Vedi, who is an employee of one of the territorial divisions of the Ararat regional police department, shot and killed the bezoar goat on December 11, at about 15:00, 2 km away of he village of Dashtakar by his officially registered rifle and took the animal to his friend’s house in the village of Azatavan in his car.
On December 15, the policeman appeared at the Artashat police station, admitted to shooting the bezoar goat and showed the rifle. An investigation was launched to find out other circumstances of the case. -0-
